Super Bowl Roundup: Feature Fridays

As promised, next week we will continue to highlight party appetizers in anticipation of the Super Bowl—Caramelized Onion Dip and Jalapeno Crab Dip—two recipes sure to grab some attention at the table.  In the meanwhile, to stay true to our theme, here are a few more links I liked for their straightforward ingredients and unique Super Bowl party potential. Enjoy!

Crispy Southwest Chicken Wraps at Mel’s Kitchen Cafe — These appear easy, but substantial enough to feed a crowd of men if need be. Most of the prep can be done in advance for a quick halftime fix. If wrapped in smaller sized tortillas, they could be cut in half and served on a platter with salsa for dipping.

Roasted Turkey Drumsticks With Star Anise and Soy Sauce at The New York Times — This sounds delicious and I could just see a group of guys eating turkey legs in front of the TV like they do at the Renaissance Festival … according to one YouTube video, eating a turkey leg makes him feel like a proper man. Like I said, the recipe sounds tasty, the rest is up to you.

Thai Cucumber Cups at Healthy Life Happy Cook — I like Thai flavors and will all the chips, dip, and heavier foods sure to be offered, the light, distinct flavors in this appeals to me.

Portobello Mushroom Pizza Bites at Blissfully Ever After — I don’t use low-fat anything, ever. But I like the idea of letting the shroom be the bread, it’s a healthier version of classic favorite.  Helps out our gluten-free friends too.

Of course, I’d love to know what your favorite party appetizer is, please comment and include a link if you’d like!

All of these appetizers look great but I can’t wait to see the Jalapeno Crab Dip! I’ll be making these pepitas for the SB party. It’s more of a snacky food than an appetizer, but my friends and family love them! Sweet and Spicy Pepitas http://mjskitchen.com/2012/01/sweet-and-spicy-pepitas/
