Hearth & Soul Hop at Savoring Today

Hearth & Soul Hop

Welcome to the Hearth and Soul Hop for May 1, 2012—the food carnival for and about food that not only nourishes our bodies, but our souls!

Here are my chosen highlights from last week:

Smashed Flat Chicken with Prosciutto & Sage by Gastronomical Sovereignty

Rainbow Stuffed Peppers by The Soulicious Life

Popped Quinoa by Healthy Family Cookin’

Did you have a chance to visit new blogs from last week’s hop? One subscriber emailed to ask what exactly a “hop” is, wondering about its purpose. It was then I realized I hadn’t done a very good job introducing Hearth & Soul, so in case there are others wondering the same thing, here it is in a nutshell.

The idea is to benefit both readers and fellow bloggers.

For Readers:
♦  If you read Savoring Today and like what you find here (I hope that’s the case), you may also like the blogs that post links on Hearth & Soul Hop. It’s like shopping at a street market, there are a number of different things to look at each week and you can click on any link to see more (like stepping up to a booth).
♦  It is one convenient place to browse multiple listings and find new blogs, mostly food related.
♦  You can skip the rules and instructions listed below and go directly to the list of thumbnail photos to check for links that interest you.

For Bloggers:
♦  If you have a blog post that fits the Mission of Hearth & Soul, please share it by posting your link. (instructions below)
♦  The link to your post will be available to the readers of six different blogs, so there is a wide audience.
♦  Participating in the hop builds community among bloggers with similar passions and interests.
♦  Every link is visited, some co-hosts may feature standout posts, as well as Pin and Tweet many of the entries.

Rules for linking:

If you are new to a blog carnival, or blog hop, following these easy steps:
1. Read the entire rules for linking, including the Mission Statement.
2. Scroll down to the bottom where you will see a small box that reads, You’re Next or Your link here.
3. Click on that link, and follow the instructions. (You will be asked to enter the URL of your recipe or article.)

Please be sure to:
♦  Link a post that closely fits into the mission.
♦  Link to your article only and not directly to your blog front page.
Link back to one of the blog hosts within your original post by adding in the URL of this blog hop post which you can copy from your browser address bar. You could also choose to place a blog badge into your post.

Recipes should include healthy ingredients and can be old or new recipes or posts, but please update old posts to include a link back to one of the co-hosts.  Articles on real food, slow food, foraging, herbal remedies, local food, sustainable food, organics, gardening or any healthy eating information written in a positive and loving light are also welcome.

Note: The linky will stay open from 4:00 a.m. EST Tuesday (That will be 1:00 am PST or 8:00 am GMT) to 11:59 pm Thursday (Eastern time).

You can find the Hearth and Soul Hosts sharing links to entries on the Hearth and Soul Hop Facebook Page, Pinterest Boards, and on Twitter at @HearthNSoulHop through out the week.

Food from the hearth to feed the soul!

Everything this week sounded wonderful. It must have been difficult to choose a winner. I know your winners will be thrilled. I hope you have a great day. Blessings…Mary

Everything looks so good, it would be hard to decide on just one.

Hi the smashed chicken recipe is Chicken Saltimbocca, Italian for “jumps in the mouth”. It is a lot like the Cooks Illustrated version that I make but not exactly. A delicious choice on her part, especially when she feels ill. I only make things like that when I feel good!

Hi Brenda, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Saltimbocca was the first thing I thought of too when I saw the post, except I just lay a piece on top of the chicken–why not use prosciutto to shrink-wrap a chicken breast, right?! I thought her recipe title was creative too. :)
