Ready to have some fun? I thought so … it is Friday, after all.
I grill; therefore I can judge grilling gadgets. Aside from a good grill-cleaning brush, chimney starter, and a good pair of tongs, most grilling gear is simply glorified gadgets—more for novelty than necessity. Some borderline on the ridiculous, which I have included here for fun. You can find more information on any one item by clicking on the photo.
Join me in lighthearted summer whimsey, pick your favorite from the list and comment why it caught your eye. By the time you reach the end, you’ll know which one started the whole idea for this Feature Friday.
#1 The Grill Sergeant Apron
This is proof camo is not slimming or necessary in your backyard. This made me laugh because, well, the grill is behind him … what is he using the tool on? A trainee?
#2 Personalized Branding Iron
Saw this for the first time at The Black Bear Restaurant in Green Mountain Falls, I must admit I wanted one. It would probably be one of those items to end up stuffed in a drawer somewhere … but it’s COOL!
#3 The Remote Controlled Beverage Buggy
Yes, evidently this is a real remote controlled car for the grill master who has everything else. What gave me a chuckle was the photo description: “…dispatch the buggy to the refrigerator or cooler for more libation (willing accomplice not included).”
#4 Cedar Grilling Papers
I love grilling with cedar planks, so the idea of thin sheets of cedar you can use to wrap around food is more than novel. May have to try these this summer.
#5 Meatball Grill Basket
Who is gonna turn down meatballs from the grill? In my opinion, this item just might make it beyond gadget to gotta have it.
#6 Jalapeno Pepper Roaster
Really, I am not a shill for Williams-Sonoma today … this would be delicious fun! Unfortunately, it does not come with that wicked-cool knife.
#7 Swashbuckling BBQ Sword
Last but not least, this is my personal favorite for the day … totally gadget, but I just love it. Not to tease you, but the package as you see it in the photo is no longer available, but you can still buy the sword. Personally, it is the mask that makes it more interesting, but that’s just me. I guess to complete the outfit, you’ll have to borrow one from one of the kid’s costumes.

Since I know the cedar papers are in the bag, gotta go with the meatball thing.
That apron would weigh a ton.. don’t think it would be for me.
The branding iron is cool but how often would I really use it?
The beverage buggy is a guy toy
The grill basket is cute
The jalapeno roaster could move into must have
Not much into fencing.
I loved this post

That apron just might make it into Santa’s bag for a few of the guys in my family. I’ve added it to my Amazon wish list. This has to be the earliest I’ve ever done anything for Christmas. It’s too early to know whether this is a good thing.

Thanks for the inspiration and the smiles, Judy.

I could definitely see Bobby wearing the apron! NOT!
Cute grilling tools, but the one I’m really interested in is the cedar grilling paper. We plank all of the time, but I’ve never seen the paper. Looks quite interesting! Hope you had a great grilling weekend!
