Welcome to the Hearth and Soul Hop for October 9, 2012—the food carnival for and about food that not only nourishes our bodies, but our souls!
Our highlights from last week are all about food in jars—things we can, put-up, or preserve to enjoy over time. Each of these posts caught my eye for their simplicity of ingredients and uncomplicated instruction. I always appreciate creative ways of extending the harvest and using the common items in my pantry in new and different ways.

What a nice surprise on my birthday today to find my roasted peppers in your highlights … thank you! This week I’m sharing the quick bread I developed using baked acorn squash and apples. We really enjoyed it and hope you will too!
