Our Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe has all the flavors we adore about Buffalo wings, without the bones or the mess.

Keep the hot wing sauce on the chicken and off your fingers (or the remote).

Buffalo Chicken Dip with blue corn chips is a party favorite.

It’s always a little embarrassing to have the biggest pile of bones, so I appreciate “no evidence” eating.

I do love my wings, so I want a dip with distinct layers and textures, like that first bite with the right touch of dressing hugging the wing.

We know you’ll love Buffalo sauced chicken resting on a bed of cream cheese with real bites of blue cheese to top it off—that’s real football party food. And only one napkin required.

Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe Tips

  • Make dip ahead and refrigerate for up to 3 days until ready to bake. If making ahead in a glass baking dish, bring to room temperature before baking or put in a cold oven and then set the temp. Never put a cold baking dish in a hot oven, as it could break.
  • For a large party, triple the recipe and layer in a slow cooker, one on top of the other, as described in the recipe. Cream cheese—chicken mixture—cheeses, repeat. Heat on low for about 2 hours, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Reheat any leftover Buffalo Chicken Dip by spreading out on a rimmed baking sheet and broil for 5 minutes to warm through, or microwave for 2 minutes.
  • Serve it Keto friendly with celery sticks and cucumber slices.

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons butter with 1 teaspoon minced garlic in the microwave for 30 seconds until melted; set aside.
  • Wet fingertips with water and evenly press 8 ounces cream cheese into the bottom of baking dish.
  • Toss chicken, hot sauce, and butter-garlic mixture in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Spread chicken mixture over the cream cheese and top with 1/3 cup shredded cheese and 1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles. *At this point the dish can be covered and refrigerated until ready to bake and serve.
  • Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Remove from oven and garnish with chopped scallions and additional blue cheese, if desired, before serving. Serve with blue corn tortilla chips, celery, carrots, or crackers.

Notes

  • Make dip ahead and refrigerate for up to 3 days until ready to bake. *If making ahead in a glass baking dish, bring to room temperature before baking or put in a cold oven and then set the temp. Never put a cold baking dish in a hot oven, as it could break.
  • For a large party, triple the recipe and layer in a slow cooker, one on top of the other, as described in the recipe. Cream cheese—chicken mixture—cheeses, repeat. Heat on high for about 2 hours, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Reheat any leftovers by spreading out in a thin layer on a rimmed baking sheet and broil for 5 minutes to warm through, or microwave for 2 minutes until warmed through.

“no evidence eating” – that’s a new one. I like it. I don’t have to worry about that because my husband always has a bigger pile than me. 🙂 I do love what you’ve done with the delicious buffalo wing, turning it into a dip. Great for a superbowl party or any party party for that matter. Great recipe Judy!

A recipe from a former starting NFL quarterback? Craziness! Your adaption of the recipe sounds much better than the original and looks insanely tasty.

Fabulous!! I had heard of this dip using canned chicken which I immediately knew I’d never do and thought about using “real” chicken…so here you go!! You created it just as I would have! I love it and am for sure serving this on Superbowl Sunday!!

Linda, it is so funny how similar our tastes are, I agree, the canned chicken was not even a consideration.

I, too, love wings but it is probably the most fatty part of the bird. Your dish here looks so much healthier without giving up any of the flavor. Great recipe!

Looks so good! I have a buffalo chicken dip that is a little different, that I have seriously been thinking about making! Sometime about the Superbowl must bring out these cravings for dip! 🙂 Have a good day!

This looks wonderful! I will definitely be trying this one out. I like the taste of wings, but not the mess or the amount of effort for that little bit of meat, so this looks perfect!
